By Dianne Linderman
- Be conscious of what needs have developed because of the recession and find a way to fill one or more of these needs.
- Don’t borrow money; start very small and let it build into something.
- Look at your present skills, what do you like to do and what are you good at such as cooking, building, working with the elderly or kids, decorating, landscaping, house cleaning, organizing, reselling items, crafting, etc.
- Start by talking to friends to begin the networking process.
- Create a name, logo, brochure and business cards.
- Look into marketing your business in the fair and event industry; a mostly recession proof industry.
- Trade shows are a great way of getting your info out.
- Technology is the name of the game. In the global market, small ideas can go a long way
- Buy and sell: Craig’s List, flea markets, and yard sales are great.
- Have a good attitude about re-thinking your life.
- Use this opportunity to clean your home; get your life completely in order.
